The Dynasonics TFX-5000 is a clamp-on ultrasonic transit-time flow meter designed for accurate measurement of volumetric flow and thermal energy in clean liquids or those with small amounts of suspended solids and aeration, such as surface water and raw sewage. Its non-invasive design clamps onto the outside of pipes, eliminating any contact with the internal fluid.

Installation is fast and cost-effective, requiring no pipe cutting, process shutdown, or pressure head loss. There are no moving parts to maintain or replace. The meter operates on pipe sizes from 0.5 to 48 inches (DN12 to DN1200) and handles flow velocities up to 12 m/s. Accuracy is ±0.5% for medium and large pipes, with ±0.2% repeatability.

For energy monitoring applications, the TFX-5000 accepts dual clamp-on RTD inputs to calculate BTU consumption in heating and cooling systems, including glycol mixtures, chilled water, and hot water. It features an 8 GB internal data logger with real-time clock capable of logging flow data down to one-second intervals.

Communication options include Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, and EtherNet/IP, allowing seamless integration with building automation systems and cloud-based platforms such as AquaCUE. The large graphical display and keypad interface enable local setup, while SoloCUE software provides advanced configuration and troubleshooting via USB.

The rugged aluminum enclosure is built for harsh environments, with process temperature capability up to 176°C (350°F) using high-temperature sensors. Power options include 85-264 VAC or 9-28 VDC.
