Product Description

The Badger Meter 380DS Impeller BTU System measures thermal energy consumption in hydronic heating and cooling systems. It combines an impeller flow sensor with two precision temperature probes to compute energy based on flow rate and temperature differential.

One RTD probe mounts directly in the flow tee; the second installs on the supply or return line. Available in brass tee sizes from 0.75 to 2 inches, covering flow rates from 1.65 to 157.34 gpm. Accuracy is ±2% of flow rate with ±0.5% repeatability. Fluid temperature range is -6.7°C to 126.7°C.

Standard communication includes BACnet MSTP and Modbus RTU over RS-485. A scaled pulse output is also available for integration with PLCs, counters, or wireless systems. All protocols are field-selectable. RS-485 transmits flow rate, flow total, energy rate, energy total, temperatures, and delta T.

Field configuration is via USB connection and free Windows software. Users set energy units, calculation mode, fluid density, specific heat, pulse scaling, and communication parameters.
