The instrument displays airflow in CFM (cubic feet per minute) or air velocity, simultaneously with temperature, on a super large 9999‑count LCD. Users can choose from three display modes: instantaneous value, up to 20‑point average for traversing ducts, or the 2/3 flow value commonly used in airflow calculations. A low‑friction ball‑bearing vane wheel on a 39‑inch cable ensures accurate readings even in challenging positions.

For data analysis, the 407113 records and recalls minimum and maximum readings, and includes a Data Hold function. The built‑in RS‑232 interface allows connection to a PC for real‑time monitoring or data logging (optional software required). Auto power off conserves battery life, and the meter can also be powered by an optional AC adapter for extended use.
