The Optris CTratio 1M / 2M infrared temperature sensor calculates surface temperature based on the emitted infrared energy of objects. A short measuring wavelength makes the pyrometer suitable for the measurement of extremely high metal temperatures and a short response time allows for the surveillance of fast processes. A stainless steel sensing head, separate electronics, and fiber optics permit operation in ambient temperatures up to 599°F without cooling .

The 2-color ratio technology provides accurate and repeatable temperature measurements that are free from dependence on absolute radiated energy values. Accurate measurements are possible even when the target is partially blocked or the target is smaller than the sensor's field of view. Measurements can be made through items or areas that reduce emitted energy, such as grills, screens, channels, small openings, or in areas where dirt, smoke, or steam is in the atmosphere between the sensor and target .

The vario optics of the CTratio allows smooth focusing from a distance of 300mm to infinity and the integrated laser sighting marks actual spot size at any distance. The sensor can be operated directly via the free Ratio Connect software and the built-in USB interface allows the sensor to be programmed using the free IRmobile Android app .

Features include adjustable response time from 1ms to 10s, optical resolutions of 38:1, 50:1, or 100:1, emissivity adjustable from 0.050 to 1.000, and 1 or 2-color modes. The sensor provides two 0/4-20mA analog outputs, operates on 8 to 30 VDC power supply, and is IP65/NEMA 4 rated .
