Product Description

In a typical household consumer unit, the most common rating after 16A is 10A. Lighting circuits, dedicated socket outlets for low-power appliances, boilers, and many fixed appliances fall into the 10A category. The ABB S201-B10 is the workhorse for these applications — affordable, reliable, and backed by decades of ABB's S200 platform.

Where the 10A Rating Shines
Consider a lighting circuit with 15 LED downlights (each 10W, about 0.65A total) — a 10A breaker provides ample headroom. Or a dedicated outlet for a refrigerator (typically 0.5–1.5A). Or a boiler/pump control circuit. The 10A rating is also common in commercial installations for lighting grids and office power sockets where each circuit is limited to a lower current to prevent excessive voltage drop.

B Curve Characteristics
Magnetic trip occurs between 30A and 50A (3–5 × 10A). This is low enough to clear a short circuit quickly but high enough to avoid tripping from the inrush of capacitive loads (LED drivers, switching power supplies) or small inductive loads. For circuits with many electronic devices, B curve is actually preferred over C because it provides faster short-circuit response.

Physical and Electrical Specs
The S201-B10 is a 1-pole device occupying 17.5mm width. Breaking capacity 6kA at 230/400V AC. DC rating 72V for single-pole use. Terminals accept solid conductors 1–25mm², stranded 1–16mm², torque 2.8 Nm. Operating temperature –25°C to +55°C. The device is rated for 20,000 electrical cycles and 20,000 mechanical cycles. Red-green contact indicator shows the switching state.

Compliance and Origin
Manufactured in Germany. Complies with IEC/EN 60898-1, IEC/EN 60947-2, and UL 1077. RoHS compliant, SVHC-free. EAN is 4016779463805.

Installation Tips
The S201-B10 can be fed from top or bottom. When used with comb busbars, ensure the busbar rating exceeds 10A. For circuits with high inrush (e.g., older fluorescent lighting with magnetic ballasts), consider a C curve instead. For motor loads, use a K or D curve. But for 90% of general-purpose 10A circuits, B curve is exactly right.
