The BOGEN Magnetics IKS23 is an incremental magnetic sensing head designed for both linear and rotary applications. It offers high accuracy and modularity, making it suitable for a wide range of position measurement tasks. Available in various versions, the IKS23 can be configured to meet specific customer requirements. When combined with BOGEN's custom linear and rotary scales, it provides measurement solutions suitable for almost any application.
The IKS23 features non-contact, quick position measurement, eliminating mechanical wear and ensuring long-term reliability. Resolution options range from 0.5 μm to 50 μm, allowing users to select the appropriate level of precision for their application. The measuring length can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet), making it ideal for large-scale linear positioning systems.
The sensing head is housed in a robust die-cast aluminum enclosure (UNI EN AC-46100) and rated IP67, providing excellent protection against dust and water ingress. It is designed to withstand harsh industrial environments, with an operating temperature range of -25°C to +85°C and storage temperature range of -40°C to +100°C. The sensor also meets high shock (250 g, 6 ms) and vibration (10 g, 5-2000 Hz) standards per CEI EN 60068-2-27 and CEI EN 60068-2-6.
The IKS23 supports incremental encoders for 1 mm, 2 mm, and 5 mm pole pitches, with wide mounting tolerances up to 2 mm (0.078"). This flexibility simplifies installation and reduces alignment requirements. The sensor offers both push-pull and line driver output circuits, with maximum counting frequencies up to 5 MHz (line driver) and 3 MHz (push-pull). Power supply options include +5 Vdc ±5% and +10-30 Vdc, with power consumption of 70 mA max. The device includes protection against reverse polarity (except 5V version) and short circuits, and complies with EMC standards per EN 61000-6-2 Level 3.
Electrical connection is via a hi-flex cable (drag chain quality) with M8 or M12 connector options. The sensor also provides a unique reference signal (on request) and periodic index signals from the pole pitch. Accessories include LMS and RMS magnetic tapes and rotary magnetic scales, as well as wipers for the IKS23 (part number 00060051).
