The HIMA HIJunctionBox is a surface-mounted junction box designed to expand the HIMA Smart Safety Platform directly into the field. By enabling decentralized deployment of systems at the field level, even in harsh environments, it significantly reduces the need for marshalling cabinets, cable trays, and master cables in your installation

The HIJunctionBox can be deployed within the Smart Safety Platform or as an extension to existing HIMatrix or HIMax systems. Its uniform hardware and software design allows any necessary additional modules to be retrofitted easily and implemented locally. Various configuration options for inputs and outputs provide high flexibility, and communication with the Safety Instrumented System (SIS) is achieved over fiber optics, enabling quick and easy integration into existing installations.

Certified for deployment in ATEX and IECEx Zone 2 explosion hazard areas, the HIJunctionBox operates reliably over a temperature range of -20°C to +55°C. This robust design helps shorten the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase and reduces testing and troubleshooting time due to lower system complexity.

The HIJunctionBox is housed in a lockable 316L stainless steel enclosure with a wall thickness of 2mm, providing IP 66/NEMA 4X protection in accordance with IEC 60529. Its dimensions are 1200 mm (height) x 800 mm (width) x 400 mm (depth), and its weight ranges from 120 kg to 150 kg, depending on the installed equipment. The unit is wall-mounted and includes a key lock for security.

It features a multicable transit system with two entries for power supply, two entries for communication connection, and up to 96 entries for I/O cables. The power supply accepts 100-240 VAC or 110-250 VDC. Communication is supported via fiber-optic (single-mode), copper-cable CAT 6, or Ethernet 1000 BaseT. Depending on application requirements, the HIJunctionBox can be used with HIMax or HIMatrix safety controllers in either redundant or mono-system configurations.
