The Caddock MP916 is a high-performance thin-film power resistor designed for demanding current sensing and power dissipation applications. Its unique Kool-Pak® construction combines an exposed ceramic heat dissipating surface with a non-inductive design, making it ideal for high-frequency and pulse-load circuits. The TO-220 style package allows for easy heat sink mounting, enabling efficient thermal management.

The resistor is constructed using Caddock's proprietary Micronox® resistance film fired onto a flat ceramic substrate. The terminal attachment and resistance element geometry are optimized for outstanding non-inductive performance. The ceramic substrate is positioned in the molded package so that the resistor element and terminal attachment areas are encapsulated, while the other side of the ceramic is exposed flush with the back mounting surface. This design facilitates direct heat transfer to a heat sink.

Key specifications include a power rating of up to 30 watts at a case temperature of +25°C, derated linearly to zero at +150°C. The resistance range extends from 0.010 ohm to 100K ohm, with standard tolerances of ±5% or ±20%. The device features a very low inductance of 10 nH typical, making it suitable for high-speed switching applications. The temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) is 0 to +500 ppm/°C. The MP916 is designed to withstand a dielectric withstand voltage of 1500 V rms AC and offers an insulation resistance of 10,000 Megohms minimum.

The MP916 series is RoHS compliant and is manufactured in an ISO 9001 certified facility. Applications include current sensing in power supplies, motor drives, automotive electronics, and industrial controls.
