The HIMA HICore 1 is a TÜV-certified safety system-on-chip (SoC) package designed to simplify the development of safety-critical embedded systems. It comprises a safety SoC, a certified safe operating system, and safety middleware, providing a complete safety platform for your design. This kit is certified in accordance with IEC 61508 Ed. 2 for safety-related systems up to SIL 3 and ISO 13849 up to PL e.

Whether you are designing an embedded control system, a sensor, an actuator, a cyber-physical system of the fourth industrial revolution, or a safety component of a medical device, HICore 1 can be the core of your system. It can run all tasks in a small device or supervise functional safety in a complex system. Certified libraries for safe communications compliant with industry standards, such as PROFIsafe or Fail Safe over EtherCAT (FSoE), are available, enabling secure networking with other safety devices.

With HICore 1, you can concentrate on your application's core functionality while HIMA covers the rest. The platform is certified to IEC 61508 (SIL 3) and EN 13849 (PL e). Its fully redundant 1oo2D architecture and exceptionally long-term availability ensure high reliability and safety. The hardware features a 135 MHz core frequency, 1.8 V core voltage, 3.3 V I/O voltage, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C, housed in an FPBGA256 enclosure.

This pre-certified solution significantly reduces development and certification effort, cutting time to market by an estimated 30 to 70 percent. HIMA supports you through every phase, from initial specification right through to the final TÜV acceptance test, offering consulting services, certification support, and engineering up to turnkey production.

Typical application areas include safety-oriented controllers, safe monitoring of driverless transportation systems, drive systems, logistics and intralogistics, sensors, actuators, and energy generation facilities. The HICore 1 evaluation kits are available to test and develop applications, featuring a DP80390 processor core (8-bit, 8051 instruction set), 2x256 KB Flash, 2x64 KB SRAM, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
