The Dakota NDT BT2-DL benchtop bolt tension monitor uses ultrasonic technology to accurately measure bolt elongation, and calculates time (nanoseconds), elongation, load, stress, and %strain of fasteners during the tightening process. When nuts and bolts are fastened under load, tightening the nut applies tension to the bolt, causing measurable elastic elongation.

Unlike standard torque measurement techniques (which are easily affected by temperature, friction, and resistance factors), the BT2-DL’s ultrasonic measurement principle eliminates these interferences, delivering an industry-leading resolution of ±0.00001 inch (±0.0001 mm).

The gauge can be programmed to automatically stop the bolt tightening process when the target load is reached, via its USB interface paired with an optional shut-off accessory.
