The Raytek MI3 infrared thermometer is a two-piece system with miniature sensing head and separate communications electronics. The MI3 electronics modules include an innovative multiple sensing head interface supporting up to 8 individually addressable heads per communication module, which reduces overall cost while simplifying installation and troubleshooting. Modules are available in either a standard cast metal enclosure or an innovative multi-channel DIN mountable enclosure. The standard enclosure includes USB 2.0 communications and a choice of scalable 0/4-20 mA and 0-5/10 VDC analog outputs, or Type J, K, R, or S thermocouple outputs, as well as an optional RS485 network interface. The DIN mountable version includes both USB 2.0 and RS485 communications .

The MI3 electronics modules control all features of the sensing head. Standard features include adjustable emissivity, peak hold, valley hold, and averaging functions. All sensor parameters are easily adjustable on the built-in user interface keypad, or remotely with the DataTemp Multidrop software via the built-in USB interface. Advanced features include user configurable alarm output, digital "recipe" table inputs that can be easily interfaced to an external control system, an external reset input for signal processing, and external inputs for analog emissivity adjustment or reflected energy compensation .

The standard enclosure is IP65 (NEMA 4) rated. The modules ship complete with software support CD with DataTemp Multidrop software and user manual. The MI3's miniature size and low cost per measurement point make it ideal for installation at multiple points in your process .
