The Dakota NDT R9 sonic tester is designed for the racing industry, commonly used to measure cylinder walls, head ports, decks, chassis tubing, body panels, and windshields. It features a dual-element probe capable of locating corrosion or deterioration on blind surfaces, such as water jacket areas, before boring.

High-speed scan takes 100 measurements per second, allowing users to drag the probe from the bottom of a cylinder to the deck area to locate minimum thickness. The scan can be switched off to pinpoint the exact location. Calibration options include single point, two point, and target velocity for increased accuracy. Cylinder wall mapping software is available for manual report creation.

Measurement range is 0.025–36in (0.63–914.4mm) for most materials, with a range of 0.05–1.5in (1.27–38.1mm) for cast materials. Resolution is 0.001in (0.01mm). Velocity range: 0.0120–0.7300 in/μs (305–18,542 m/s). Pulse repetition frequency is 200Hz with display update 10Hz. Factory calibration traceable to NIST, 5‑year warranty.
