The Optris CTlaser 3M infrared temperature sensor is designed for measuring metals and composite materials with low temperatures. It delivers exact measurements on areas as small as 0.03 inches. The short response time of 1ms is well suited for monitoring fast processes. The sensor has a wide variety of temperature ranges from 122 to 3272°F depending on the model (3ML, 3MH, or 3MH1-3) .

The sensor features a 2.3μm spectral range optimized for metal and composite measurements. Optical resolutions range from 60:1 (3ML) to 100:1 (3MH) and up to 300:1 (3MH1-3), allowing measurement of very small targets at long distances. Emissivity is adjustable from 0.1 to 1.1. The sensor can function in ambient temperatures up to 185°F without additional cooling .

Selectable analog outputs and multiple digital interfaces offer high variability. Field selectable analog output options include 0/4-20mA, 0-5V, 0-10V, Type K or J thermocouple, and alarm output. The sensor features peak hold, valley hold, average, and an extended hold function with threshold and hysteresis, all field configurable with the USB programming kit .

Optional plug-in interfaces include USB, RS485, RS232, 2 optically isolated relay outputs, CAN-Bus, Profibus DP, and Ethernet. The Optris Compact Connect temperature analysis software is available as a free download for data analysis and documentation. The sensor operates on 8-36 VDC power supply with 160mA max current draw and is IP65 NEMA-4 rated .
