Product Description
The Armstrong International VERIS Verabar V400S/D Flanged Hot Tap Flow Sensor, developed from aerospace technology, provides unsurpassed accuracy and reliability for applications requiring sensor insertion or removal without system shutdown. With its solid one-piece construction and bullet shape, the Verabar makes flow measurement clog-free and precise, delivering stable signals even in demanding process conditions .
The V400 series features flanged hot tap mounting with screw drive mechanism, allowing installation and retraction under line pressure without interrupting flow. This design is ideal for permanent installations where future sensor removal for inspection or replacement may be required without process shutdown. The V400S offers single support configuration, while the V400D provides double support for enhanced stability in larger line sizes or higher velocity applications.
When fluid impacts the sensor, it creates a high-pressure zone in front of the sensor. As the fluid accelerates around the sensor, a low-pressure zone is created to the sides and rear. Multiple sensing ports are positioned in these high- and low-pressure zones, and an averaged differential pressure is measured, providing a representative measurement of the true flow profile.
The Verabar design uniquely locates the low-pressure ports on the sides of the sensor, forward of the fluid separation point and turbulent wake area, virtually eliminating clogging and producing an extremely stable signal. This reduces noise and improves control loop performance, with superior performance even in dirty fluids. Verified accuracy eliminates the need for calibration tests to characterize coefficients, with empirical test data from independent laboratories published in the VERIS Verabar Flow Test Report (VED-100).
