The Rion VM-56 is a tri-axial groundborne vibration meter with the ability to calculate defined measurement quantities and multiple parameters. The vibration meter is suitable for a range of applications, including attended measurements, unattended surveys, and live-to-web monitoring. Measurement data can be accessed by computers, tablets, or smart phones through a network connection in order to maintain continuous remote monitoring. There are additional options for waveform recording and 1/3 octave band analysis functions.

Functions within the meter include alarm indications, which can go off whenever there is a signal overload or underload. Up to 5 sets of setting can be stored in internal memory and on an SD card. There are three storage modes: manual, auto, and timer auto. Manual store modes occur for measurements in one memory address. Auto store mode allows for the continuous storing of various types for each calculation cycle. Lastly, timer auto store mode automatically processes values at a defined cycle time.

The VM-56 meets applicable standards including DIN 45669-1:2010-09, ISO 8041:2005, and ISO 8041-1:2017. It has a measurement frequency range of 0.5 to 315Hz with vibration velocity measurement range of 0.3 to 100mm/s. Operating temperature range is -20 to 50°C with IP54 dust and water proofing.
