Product Description
The Jewell Instruments LSM Series represents the culmination of high-precision force-balanced accelerometer technology in an exceptionally compact package—approximately one inch cube. Designed to meet the most demanding aerospace requirements, it delivers the same proven performance as the LCA Series in a smaller form factor for applications where space is at a premium.
Built on the LS Series platform, these linear accelerometers utilize solid-state, DC, closed-loop, force-balanced technology. This design achieves accuracy, stability, and reliability several orders of magnitude greater than open-loop alternatives. The operating principle employs a torque-balanced mass: linear acceleration displaces an unbalanced mass, generating an electrical signal that is amplified and fed back to a torque generator, restoring equilibrium. This closed-loop configuration ensures exceptional linearity, low hysteresis, and long-term stability.
The LSM Series offers selectable full-scale ranges from ±0.5g to ±20g, with resolution exceeding 20 µg at 10g full scale. Bandwidth extends up to 200 Hz with 0.6 damping ratio, and the fully conditioned output provides ±5.0V with ±1% accuracy. The sensor operates reliably over an extended temperature range of -55°C to 95°C, making it suitable for harsh aerospace environments.
