Product Description
The KROHNE MFC 400 is a high-performance signal converter for Coriolis mass flowmeters, delivering accurate measurement of mass flow, volume flow, density, and temperature across a wide range of liquid and gas applications—from cryogenic to high-temperature fluids. Advanced digital signal processing ensures stability even in single or multi-phase conditions.
Entrained Gas Management (EGM) technology enables continuous, stable measurement with 0 to 100% gas entrainment, preventing signal loss during batch changes or gas entrainment events. Developed according to IEC 61508, the MFC 400 is suitable for safety applications up to SIL 2/3 depending on I/O and sensor configuration.
The converter offers flexible I/O: a basic version includes HART, pulse/frequency, status, control input, and current input. A modular variant supports any combination of up to four galvanically isolated inputs/outputs, active or passive. Fieldbus options include HART, RS485 Modbus, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS PA/DP, and PROFINET IO. For PROFINET, integrated managed Ethernet switch supports Media Redundancy Protocol and network diagnostics.
Diagnostics conform to NAMUR NE 107 with status indication via display backlight, self-checking of internal circuits, and sensor/process condition monitoring. The OPTICHECK Flow Mobile app (iOS/Android) enables wireless commissioning, verification, and diagnostics via Bluetooth.
The converter is available in compact (sensor-mounted) or remote field housing versions with redundant data storage and real-time clock. Intuitive optical and mechanical keys simplify navigation. Power options: 100-230 VAC or 12-24 VDC. Compatible with OPTIMASS 1000, 2000, 3000, 6000, and 7000 series sensors.
