Product Description
The inline Panametrics PanaFlow MV84 vortex flow meter adopts a multivariable integrated design, which integrates a patented vortex shedding velocity sensor, an RTD temperature sensor, and a solid-state pressure transducer into a single field device. It can directly measure the mass flow rate of steam, gases, and liquids based on the Von Karman vortex shedding principle, with inherent linearity, high turndown ratio, and long-term reliability.
Unlike traditional flow meters that rely on external, separately installed temperature and pressure devices to calculate mass flow (which causes large errors due to inconsistent process conditions at different measurement points), the MV84 measures velocity, temperature, and pressure at the same location in the pipeline, eliminating measurement deviation caused by parameter mismatch, and providing more accurate and real-time process data.
The MV84 integrates full flow computer functionality in a compact field device, with flexible field configuration capabilities. The VTP configuration integrates temperature and pressure sensors to realize real-time compensated mass flow measurement of gases, liquids and steam; the VT configuration (temperature compensation only) is optimized for saturated steam applications; the VT-EP configuration supports access to external pressure transmitters for full-function pressure measurement. In addition to totalized mass output and configurable alarm settings, its electronics can deliver up to three analog 4-20mA outputs, which can be freely mapped to five process variables: volumetric flow rate, mass flow rate, pressure, temperature and density. It also supports HART, Modbus and BACnet communication protocols, enabling remote monitoring and seamless integration with DCS systems.
The meter features a patented sensor head design that minimizes the impact of pipeline vibration and pump noise on measurement accuracy. It can measure most gases, liquids and steam without recalibration, and offers a reducing meter option to extend the lower measurement range for small flow scenarios. It is FM USA/Canada approved for explosion-proof and dust ignition-proof applications, and is equipped with an LCD digital display and 6-button keypad for on-site operation and configuration.
